Bloom – Day #3

Soloman was chosen by God to build His temple. In I Kings 6 the building of the temple begins. There was such detail taken with each part of the building process, and the Bible talks about the detail so we can see it in our mind’s eye.

From the inner sanctuary to the side rooms, to the materials used it was an exquisite structure.

In the middle of describing the detail of the temple being built God echos the Davidic covenant He spoke in 2 Samuel 7 reminding Soloman that the gift of building the temple was given to him because of his faithfulness. Fulfilling the promise that His Spirit would remain with His people and not forget them.

In the main hall of the temple carved into the cedar were gourds and blooms of flowers. The beginning of the Jewish calendar usually occurs in the spring, the beginning of the growing season.

The gourds and blooms were carved into the walls of the temple hall as a reminder of God’s provision. Yahweh Yirah, the Lord will provide.

I Kings 6:18 NET
