A riddle bore from the Spirit of God. Incredible strength is given to a man and anointed by God. This man was wild but heard the voice of God. His name, Sampson.

The riddle Sampson told was of his own doing so no one would know the answer. “What is sweeter than honey? What is stronger than a lion?” Sampson is referring to the lion and the honey found within it. When after a while the carcass had sat Sampson found honey in it and ate of it.

A sweet reward for hearing and moving in obedience to the voice of God. Honey is a wonderfully sweet treat. God used Sampson to initiate the Philistines for oppressing the Israelites. Once again a foreign power oppresses Israel, and once again God responds.
