I can only imagine how scared the Israelites were after finding out their fearless leader Moses, the one God used to lead their escape out of Egypt, the one who had been leading them through the wilderness, was leaving them to be led by a young Joshua. I can almost hear the fear in the voices of the people. The doubt in the youth that had yet to be tested. So Moses gathered up the Israelites. Stood Joshua next to him and began to exhort the people amid their fear to face the trial.
The trial that lay ahead looked impossible, but God was on their side. He promised to hand over their enemy so they could enter into their promised land. God has shown Himself faithful to provide their victory every time. All they needed to do now was to have the courage to step forward to receive their inheritance. Moses was unable to come with them to the long-awaited promised land, but still being their leader God used Moses. He used his faithful servant to speak comfort to the Israelites’ fear as they headed into this next trial. He prepared their hearts. Gave them courage by speaking the truth of who God is.
Just as God gave courage to the young leader Joshua, God wants to speak courage and strength to us. If God has asked us to do something, He will be with us in it. Therefore, we can have confidence to be strong and courageous!
It is the Lord who goes before us. In every trial, he is the one who goes with us. He will not fail or abandon you. Do not fear. Trust Him in the trial. He will always be victorious.
Deuteronomy. 31:6-8 AMP
Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble in dread before them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.” 7 Then Moses called to Joshua and said to him in the sight of all [the people of] Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you will go with this people into the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you will give it to them as an inheritance. 8 It is the Lord who goes before you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
