The Wait – #1

The word wait in the Old Testament means to wait actively. With anticipation. Watching for God to act.

My husband and I recently found out that he is losing his job. He has never lost a job before, and the news sent us both into a tailspin. Loss does this.  It is a recalibration from the comfort that we have been walking in in order to refocus on just what our family needs. The loss brings grief, questioning why, and what does God want next?

We found ourselves pressing into God in a new way. Desperate for him to move our mountains. In the wait we found ourselves expecting the Lord to move on our behalf. We have asked him what His desire is.

The wait is about the journey from the ending of one to the beginning of another. In this process, God wants to break off distrust. As he refines us in the wait we settle into a new mindset. Hope for tomorrow.

May the Lord lift you high on eagle’s wings keeping your eyes fixed on the Father with your wings locked. Do not give up in the wait. God will meet you, strengthen you, and give you new joy for today.

Isaiah 40:31 ESV
“but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Nehemiah 8:10
Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
