Bloom – Day #8

Paul addresses the unmarried believers in the Corinthian church in I Corinthians 7:36. This is a different way to use bloom than we’ve seen with the Old Testament scriptures we’ve highlighted. So far the word has been used to reference the bloom that happens in nature.

Here, Paul is instructing the Corinthian church about remaining unmarried, being engaged, and being married. Paul uses the word bloom as an example of when it is not a sin for those who have decided to remain unmarried to marry. Just as plants come into a season where they bloom, so does love in a person’s heart.

Being one that has married I know the feeling of being love. The excitement that surrounds it. The joy. May the fulfillment of God’s love for you in this season bring new hopes and desires into bloom.

You are deeply loved.

If anyone thinks he is acting inappropriately toward his virgin, if she is past the bloom of youth and it seems necessary, he should do what he wishes; he does not sin. Let them marry.
