The Wait – #2

There is joy in the wait. James 1 talks about taking time in the wait to find joy.

Joy can be hard to cultivate when our focus is on something we consider to be of great importance. We tend to take our eyes off of the Lord and put them on the road in front of us. When our faith is tested James talks about a stirring up of faith that gives us endurance in the wait.

As we wait our endurance grows, the Lord strengthens us. The Lord often reveals that we are stronger and more prepared than we thought.

Life is not a series of short sprints that eventually leads to the finish line. Life is a marathon. The roads we run each uniquely created for the runner running on them. Sometimes the runner needs to stop and catch his breath. It is here as we are catching our breath that God recalibrates our marathon route. Giving us a new vision for the road we are to run.

Wherever you are on your road, on this day, may gladness and joy fill your hearts with excitement for the road ahead.

James 1:2-4
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

Psalms 118:24
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
