Astonished #9

Jesus was preaching to the multitude about the life that was found in Him. That through obedience and love the Holy Spirit will move through you too.

Jarius, a ruler of the synagogue, came to Jesus. Jarius fell at the feet of Jesus. He begged for Jesus to come and lay hands on his daughter who was sick, that she may live. As Jesus started to follow Jarius to his home a woman with an issue of blood touched the hem of His robe. She knew, as Jarius did, the healing power of Jesus. If she was able to touch Him she knew she would be healed. The Bible says that Jesus knew immediately healing power had left him.

I love Jesus. His response was so beautiful He didn’t shame her, he extended love to her. I imagine Jesus’ gaze toward her being so intentional, direct, and loving. I can see His posture toward her as He leans into her with compassion and says to her, “Daughter your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”

While Jesus was still speaking to this woman some came from Jarius’ house to tell him that His daughter had died. Jesus turned to Jarius, with confidence in His eyes. When He arrived at Jarius’ home Jesus asked the girl’s parents to take him and a few of His disciples with him into her room. Jesus took her by the hand and spoke to her spiritless body, “little girl, I say to you arise.”

Immediately her spirit returned to her, and with it life to her body. She arose and walked. Those who were in the room were astonished by this miracle.

Thank you Father that you’re still doing miracles today! How beautiful are those who trust in the word of the Lord.

Your miracle is coming.

Mark 5:42 KJV
And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
