Astonished #10

Jesus continues His ministry in the region of Decapolis in the Sea of Galilee. Jesus was met by a multitude of people. The multitude brought him a man who was deaf and mute who they asked Jesus to heal.

In verse 33 of Mark Chapter 7, it says that Jesus took this man aside from the multitude put his finger in his ears, and spit, and then touched his tongue. Before He asked the Father for his ears and mouth to be opened He sighed. I can only imagine what it was like to be constantly surrounded by people who peppered him with questions and requests. I don’t know how gracious and kind I would be. I believe the sigh the Bible speaks of is a reflection of Jesus’ flesh being tired.

Our flesh gets tired, but God in His ever abounding faithfulness meets Jesus, and us in our weakness. He uses us despite our weakness, and He uses Jesus here to heal the deaf-mute.

The people were astonished beyond measure at Jesus’ miracle-working power. That same miracle-working power that lives in Jesus lives in us. Be bold dear ones.

Mark 7:37 NKJV
And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”
